Substantive additions to a 1970’s beach house

Beginning with a simple single-storey residence close to the ocean, a second level is added to create a master retreat, study and external terrace. The piece de resistance is a floating podium in steel and glass, containing sweeping open space to house the kitchen, dining and living areas.
